Here are some solutions to common technical problems that players have encountered.
Please try them in order:

  1. Reboot computer.
Start with a simple reboot of your computer. Sometimes, this can solve minor glitches and issues.

  2. Disable Anti-Virus/Internet Security:
Disable any real-time anti-virus or Internet security programs.
Some anti-virus software might falsely detect GameGuard as a virus, preventing the game from functioning properly.
If you still face issues, consider uninstalling them.

  3. Identify Conflicting Programs:
GameGuard will indicate which program is causing issues when it closes the game. Uninstall any program mentioned, especially third-party applications that modify game files or provide macros, hotkeys, auto-clickers, or game boosters.

  4. Firewall Settings:
    Check your computer's Firewall settings.
If you find that it's blocking the game's internet access, either disable it or uninstall it.

  5. Update Windows:
Ensure your Windows operating system is updated to the latest version. If not, update it.
Sometimes, outdated operating systems can cause compatibility issues.

  6. Disable Windows Defender:
If you use Windows Defender, try turning it off.
Navigate through Start -> Search “Windows Defender” -> Tools -> Administrator -> uncheck “use this program.”

  7. GameGuard Folder:
Delete the GameGuard folder under the game directory and launch the game.
You can find the game folder by searching for 'gvonline.exe' on your computer.

  8. Administrator Privileges:
Make sure you are logged into an account with full Administrator privileges on your computer.

  9. Disk Space:
Ensure you have enough disk space, typically 20 GB of free space should be sufficient for the game to run smoothly.

  10. Install Path:
install the game in a directory that doesn’t contain non-English letters in the path.
If your username has non-English letters, and you install the game under the default folder, it could cause issues.

  11. Reinstall the Game:
If all else fails, uninstall the game completely, delete the game folder, and then reinstall the game from the official UWO website.
